U1 (Berlin)

U1 is a line on the Berlin U-Bahn. The eastern portion is the oldest part of the network, opened in 1902, and runs as an elevated railway between Warschauer Straße and Gleisdreieck. Until 1993 the section between Wittenbergplatz and Krumme Lanke was designated as the U2, with the U1 running from Wittenbergplatz to Ruhleben. Following the reopening of the U2's central section, the line designations west of Wittenbergplatz were swapped for operational reasons.
