Sigur Rs

Sigur Rs (which translates as "victory rose") is an Icelandic post-rock band, formed in Reykjavk in 1994, while the band's members were teenagers. Jn r Birgisson (Jnsi - guitarist/vocalist), Georg Holm (Goggi - bass guitar) and Agust (drums) won a record deal with Bad Taste, a local label, and released Von ("Hope") in 1997, followed very quickly by a remix collection, Von Brigi. The band hired Kjartan Sveinsson (Kjarri - keyboard) for gtis Byrjun (1999; "A decent start") to critical acclaim and some popular fanfare, mostly in the United Kingdom. By the end of 2000, Sigur Rs' popularity had grown and the band was playing with Radiohead and other big names. In 2002, the band released ( ).
