List of controversial games

Throughout history, games-- card, board, physical, and video-- have been a source of controversy, and many have been outlawed. For example, Monopoly (game) was banned in the Soviet Union as capitalist propaganda, and was banned in many high schools during the 1990s.

The following is a list of games that have aroused some sort of social controversy. For a game to be listed here, it should not merely be listed upon speculation, e.g. "it could be judged offensive". Rather, games should only be listed if they have sparked considerable uproar. For example, DOOM is included under the "Violence" header since some blamed it, in the wake of the Columbine High School massacre, for the shootings.
