Lake City is a town located in Hinsdale County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 375. It is the county seat of Hinsdale County6.


Lake City is located at 38°1'55" North, 107°18'43" West (38.031946, -107.311940)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.2 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.2 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and 1.18% is water.


As of the census of 2000, there are 375 people, 182 households, and 111 families residing in the town. The population density is 172.4/km² (447.5/mi²). There are 385 housing units at an average density of 177.0/km² (459.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.13% White, 0.00% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 1.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 182 households out of which 20.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% are married couples living together, 6.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 32.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.06 and the average family size is 2.54.
