Kassia (also Kassiane, Kassiani, Casia; 810 - bef.867) was a poet and a composer, one of the most ancient composers, whos scores we really know and who's music we can really hear and perform.

She was born in the 810 in Constantinople in aristocratic family. About 843 she founded a convent and became its first abbess.
