CE marking

The CE mark is a mark issued by European Union. It says that a producer agrees with certain "directives", or EU laws, such as the EU Directive concerning Liability for Defective Products, which makes EU importers liable for the products they import, including the machinery they provide to their employees for work.

The directives are also valid in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

The United States analog of the CE mark is the Underwriters Laboratories symbol.
