Amon Amarth

In J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, Amon Amarth is the Sindarin version of the name Mount Doom.


Named after the fictional place, Amon Amarth is also a Viking Metal band from Sweden.

The Five Swedish Death Metalers are known for their Melodic Death Metal based on the bleak Norse Mythology. With Such deadly tunes as The Arrival of The Fimbul Winter and Versus the World, these rockers are becoming very popular.

Formed in 1988 as the Death Metal Band, Scumm, the Quintet of Viking Thrashers switched to "Amon Amarth" in 1992, with the release of the album, Once Sent From The Golden Hall. Their popularity rose when they released the now famous "The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter", selling all 1000 demo discs in less than 12 hours in 1995.

These amazing band is now working on their latest album schedualed for October 2004, "The Fate Of The Norns"
